Quality Ratings:Best Hotels for...Lodging Styles:
Many visitors to Grenada choose taxi cabs as a primary way to get around the island during their stay. Taxis cost a little more than bus fares but offer private, direct service to your destination. Cab rates, though, are very reasonable, and cars are abundant. Taxi drivers can also serve as island tour guides, pointing out sites you may never have realized you'd like to visit.
Taxis meet almost every incoming flight and ferry in the region and are easy to find standing by at Point Salines International Airport. You can also call ahead to schedule a pick up and have a car waiting just for you. Once you get to your hotel, you can always contact a taxi cab company by telephone, and the driver will pick you up right from your lobby. Vacationers can also reserve a cab for the day by arranging for an island tour for about $60(USD) or approximately $15(USD) per half hour.
Rates vary depending on the length of your journey and where you want to go, but travelers can anticipate some fees based on set rates for popular routes and tourist destinations. Traveling from the airport to Grand Anse, L'Anse aux Epines, and St. George's will cost approximately $10(USD) to $12(USD) per person, and if you travel within a one-mile radius of the airport, your trip will only cost $2.75(USD). There is a surcharge on cab rides between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. as well as for trips outside of St. George's.
Some companies offer 24-hour cab service, so whenever you need a ride, all you have to do is pick up the phone. Private taxis can be arranged at a higher rate, or you can split the cost with another group if possible.
Seeing as much as possible on the gorgeous island of Grenada is a cinch. All you have to do is call a cab, and you're off.
