In a world where superlatives have lost their meaning, how do you describe something that is truly first class? In Dubai, they’ve introduced the concept of a seven star hotel to try and get across the quality of what they are trying to do. That sounds a little brash and perhaps it’s easier to rely on the judgement of someone like Harpers magazine, who featured Mount Hartman Bay Estate in their issue, Seven Heavens
They are all air-conditioned and most have ceiling fans as well. Very spacious and sumptuously furnished with a mixture of antique and modern furniture, they all have king sized beds, many of them four posters constructed of South American purple heart wood, with romantic sari drapes around them, and 600 threadcount bed linen with some of the most comfortable mattresses in the world.
Each suite has a large, private bathroom - some with outdoor showers, others with private views over the bay but all with some special feature and all with luxurious, all-enveloping bath sheets and towels, and amenities by L’Occitane. Guest robes and slippers are provided. There’s a 42" flat screen TV in each suite with a CD/DVD player and a Bose Wave radio/alarm. A room safe and tea/coffee making facilities are also provided. Some suites have private balconies.
Others see the influences of Gaudi in the design, or of the Hobbit or, even, of Tracy Island from Thunderbirds. No matter what the description, it's an amazing property, which has featured in many television programmes and coffee table books, including HGTV's World's Most Extreme Homes feature and a whole chapter in Tropical Homes of the Eastern Caribbean, the #1 architectural bestseller from ozonezonebooks.com in the Amazon best seller charts.
